Gigs & Events
Every set is improvised, every night shaped by the crowd, the week, and the groove.

Playing out
I’ve been playing soul records on Saturday Nights in West Asheville for twenty years! Generations of soul fans, dancers, record enthusiasts and curiosity seekers have sought me out for something out-of the ordinary, to watch me awkwardly jump around and shimmy while I figure out which record to play next. I never plan out my sets in advance. I just go where the the records I’ve brought for the night, the events of the week, and the crowd takes me. When it all clicks, I think it’s a pretty exciting experience. But the most important component for any great dance party is...you! On my own I can play cool music all night long, but having a crowd open to letting their guards down and opening their hearts to the glories of a simple groove and a great guitar break is what really makes the magic happen!
Of course, not every gig is about a wild dance party, and I truly love playing sounds for the background of a fun evening of cocktails and conversation, and smooth music for dining and socializing. Different settings, different sounds. A good DJ creates an energy no algorithm can match.
My Saturday nights are currently spent at The Low Down in West Asheville, where I work with a crew of fellow analog enthusiasts to share our love of vinyl culture, old school DJing, and dancing like nobody’s watching.
If you’re interested in just coming out for a more chilll night with some tunes played at less...enthusiastic...volume and more...reasonable...hour, may I suggest the Crow and Quill, the Antidote, or the District 42?

Book me at your venue
I’m always open to trying out a new room, whether that’s a one-off night or something more regular. I’ve played in a lot of Asheville venues over the years and take the work seriously. Not every DJ night needs to be a full-on dance party — having a DJ in your space can add energy, character, and flow even when people aren’t dancing. And if you do want to get a party started, I’m happy to see what’s possible.

Hire me for your private party
I also DJ private events like birthdays, anniversaries, and holiday parties. Having someone whose only job is to focus on the music can make a big difference. I’m not a one-size-fits-all DJ, but if you’re wondering whether the guy who played records at the Admiral and the Double Crown still does private parties — I do, and I am. Let’s talk through your ideas and see whether a DJ makes sense for your event, and whether that DJ should be me.
